Needs to be dropped in to the Silverado for a SS and a ZR2/Raptor fighter. Same machine, two very different beasts.
And sticking with Caddy, the Escalade could use it too
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent

That title is a bit clumsy. It makes it seem like they’re making a 2 liter Northstar.

This is going to be a great engine for the Cadillac C8 supercar

See my mind went there too. Built at the ‘vette plant and everything.. That car is not going to be a mid engine ‘Vette!!

Looks awesome, with how much lighter that car is and the engine apparently being lighter than an lt it should perform really well.
Reading that guy trying to explain technical features is painful.

A decade after the first 550hp forced induction V8 Cadillac.

The flat torque curve in the lower power version seems like it would be great for a truck / Escalade.

I LOVE that they’re redone the looks inspired surely by the Escala concept. Looks so much more cleaner than the previous one:
We shall see if this boosts sales because they do only about 800 units a month, 10,450 in all of 2017

I guess as long as they use studs to mount the heads, it’ll be alright.... I wish I was more optimistic regarding a specific engine for cadillac, but with the northstar’s propensity to separate heads from the block, I would have much rather a version of the LS in lieu of the old northstar V-8. Otherwise they were great, a bit over complicated, but they worked well. However, an LS mill would’ve worked as well and been more reliable.
The hot v design of the new one is very cool though, I just hope they learned their lessons from the original northstar. I knew cadillac was trying to take on the Germans, but that doesn’t mean they need to go overboard and over complicate the engineering like the Germans.

Please don’t call it a northstar.....

GM is also working on a small block based DOHC V8 for the Corvette. That would be better suited for the trucks if anything.

Seriously the Head issue was resolved in 2000. They went on to have 10 years of reliable service after that. It was a bit of growing pains for GM. working with aluminium and DOHC that engine was a growth and learning platform. Yet here we are closing on 20 years since that was a thing and several DOHC, aluminium engines with out issues later and people still are haters. Stop hating. This is what Cadillac needs.

Well 2000 they lengthened the head bolts, but wasn’t till 2004 they changed to coarser threads as well. So really it wasn’t till ‘04, but glad they learned their lesson and fixed it. That explains why my MILs ‘03 is loosing coolant regularly. But it’s not bad enough to do a repair, but I’ve seen a couple other northstar DTS’s with headgaskets issues, but if I remember correctly they were pre ‘04. Still a shame to have something so simple effectively take the cars out of service. Similar to audi with the 3.6l oil pump pulley bolt on the early Q7s. I’m glad for them getting the new mill, and I’m hopeful it’ll be a good long term power plant, because the only way I will be able to buy one is after depreciation has worked it’s magic. I love the looks of the CT6, but was waiting for the V-version. So maybe by 2022, I’ll be able to buy one ;).
